In the frame of the International Day opposing GMO and supporting actions in favour of traditional seeds and practices in agriculture, FIMARC wants to remind the danger that we see in the use of GMOs that contaminate traditional plants, with no control over the consequences, which are also an important cause of the decrease in the genetic biodiversity potential and lead to a loss of autonomy for small peasents.

We insist more on the need to dedicate the necessary resources to research in agriculture to improve the soil and agricultural practices, to protect the traditional seeds adapted to the soil and climates in the different regions, to promote a family agriculture based on the quality of products and on the need for true agricultural reforms in many countries, ensuring the access to land for all.

We invite our lectors, members and friends to relay this position, to read and disseminate the press release of CPE that we fully support.
